Bring all of your regular equipment with you. If you are interested in purchasing new equipment when you arrive in Whistler there are plenty of shops to choose from. Most shops are specialized to carry either ski or snowboard equipment and staffed by those who either ski or snowboard. The staff are very informed and prices tend to be between 10 - 15% cheaper than in the UK. Many shops will let you demo skis/boards before you buy them. Whistler/Blackcomb also has demo days on top of the mountain. It's a good way to go if you're not exactly sure what you want. Upon arriving at your chalet in Whistler you will be given a discount card which is valid at most of the local shops in town. So if you're thinking of purchasing new equipment it's probably best to wait and buy in Canada.
Equipment you will need:
- Skis/Poles/Boards
- Bindings
- Boots
- *Riding pants/jacket
- Toque (woolly hat)
- Goggles
- Gloves
- Helmet (you can't enter the Highest level terrain park without one)
- Thermals - top and bottom
- Riding socks
- Fleece(s)
*For your own comfort we recommend pants and jackets that are waterproofed to at least 10 000mm. 30 000mm is the best and will keep you dry for days through the worst of storms, but it's also a little more pricey. |
